Two months of pre pro and 7200 feet of 35mm footage shot in 5 days. Our biggest school project is out the door and ready for the cutting room floor. We made a movie.
And I’m burnt to a crisp.
A mistake I often make is never resting. Many times I’ve robbed and disrespected myself of renewal and refreshment. My heart says I’m a machine but my body says I’m a pudding pop.
I think personal sabbath days are a requirement for sanity. A time set aside for reflection is necessary for growth and rejuvenation. This means I’m both mentally and emotionally short and crazy.
Next up if Brent’s will be done: Resume, Videoing, Graduation, Job Hunting, Wedding
Next up if God’s will be done: a pride fall, a faith strengthening, a compassion sprouting, a priority rearrangement, a new surrender.

On Friday around 8:30pm, before we started production the next morning, The two Directors Mike Dalton and Mike Lloyd, and myself sat in the office portion of our set untying shoe laces for a scene later on in the week. Our instructor James walked through the sound stage, and this happened.
James: You guys are still here?
Me: Just making some last minute preparations.
Dalton: Yeah, we’re getting pumped for tomorrow
Lloyd: We’re too excited to do anything else!
James: Well, that’ll change in a few years.
Dalton: I hope not.
(pause)
James: Yeah, me neither.

Yesterday Semoran Blvd. was backed up.
It’s always backed up.
Every lane
bumper to bumper
heal to toe
It’s like that feeling when someone
is in your personal space bubble.
People need to move
this line needs to move
it’s too crowded
We’ve got important places to go
We’ve got important people to see
My priorities supersede anything these other people
in the exact same position as me
need to do.
And my priority is to get to point B when I want to.
As we creep forward
the southbound lane has disappeared
a traffic rapture
ghost lanes
lonely road dashes
There’s that Taco Bell/Pizza Hut express.
and flashing lights everywhere
Someone’s SUV has been crushed to pieces
Someone is not so worried about their point B
or anyone elses’s point B
Ripped
Thrashed
Torn
adjectives not meant for metal things
but they describe the state of this vehicle pretty well.
A gray SUV
doorless
windowless
windsheildless
sits mangled at the end of a driveway, out in the street
the accident investigators are holding up traffic for miles
and some Daughter isn’t coming home
or some Brother won’t make it to another Brother’s for the basketball game
or some Wife won’t show up to dinner with her Husband of 13 years
or some Grandson won’t make it to clean his Grandmother’s basement
or some Girlfriend won’t make it back to her Boyfriends’ place after their big fight
And we finally pass through.
the speed picks up
normal driving boundaries are maintained
and our lives go on
The southbound lanes are clogged for miles ahead
and they won’t make it to their destination this route.
a lot of people will probably miss their flights to the airport
probably be late to dinner with friends
maybe not get their groceries as fast as they would have like to have
The traffic police will conduct them towards detours down other roads
and they may never know the privilege they have in still
being able to do so.

Steph and I took these photos over Christmas Break.
I don’t know why we chose Barnes & Nobles. It’s definetly our 2nd favorite store, right behind Target. It was super cold that day too, so shelter was accepted.
We found Steph’s Dad’s old Pentax ME-Super. And we loaded it with 800 ASA film. And we had a blast. Steph is getting into photography now. I think she’s amazing.
