“Too many people wait until they have all the answers before starting the journey.” So true in my life. Chances are here, and I’m jumping on.
- Grand Rapids has this tight knit family of production crew. Orlando was tight because of the Full Sail connections. Grand Rapids is tight because of a passion. Money is probably involved too. But not with the men and women I’ve met. So solid.
- Marriage is the best.
- I am surrounded by inspiration and visual melody. The camera will be clicking this week.
- I’m not sure what the next year holds, but the hands of time never lets loose it’s grip. It’s gonna hold something, and I’m gonna walk through it.
“…Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.”
– Nehemiah 4:14
I get discouraged when film rolls come back blank. I get frustrated When I misload a camera. When I don’t compensate for this and that. When I do something to ruin something. When hours of visual inspiration seem lost forever.
Then I remember that every time I hold a camera I see the world in a new way. The park benches have a pulse. The buildings are laughing. People are joined together and captured in a moment that can’t be described in words, only through the film negative.
I remember that pictures and art are the most honest, most true remnants of humanity that exist. My chances for a photo today are as good as they were yesterday. And I’m rejuvenated again.
It’s been awhile since my last edit. It’s good to feel that adrenaline rush again.

My boy Blake asked me to do a behind the scenes doc on a photo shoot he had at the Paul Mitchell institute. So I did.
As usual, clicking the “Personal Project” Category link or searching“Video Post” in my tags will take to you previously posted videos (with a little side information.) You can also take a mouse cursor drag over to the right column to find a direct link to my Vimeo.
Steph and I took these photos over Christmas Break.
I don’t know why we chose Barnes & Nobles. It’s definetly our 2nd favorite store, right behind Target. It was super cold that day too, so shelter was accepted.
We found Steph’s Dad’s old Pentax ME-Super. And we loaded it with 800 ASA film. And we had a blast. Steph is getting into photography now. I think she’s amazing.
2008 is halfway dead. 2009 is looming. It still feels weird to me to talk about years in that way. “The year 2000″ seems so futuristic.
A new dedication to excellence has come over me this past week. I want to succeed and be good at what I do. I want to be better at what I do. I want to be God glorifying in what I do.
Cinematography is going to be a sweet class.
Fantasy Football is almost underway.
A wellspring of photograph ideas have been sweltering.
Let tomorrow come. I’ve conquered today.
I bought one of these the other day. It was on sale. Whatever Y2K is, I'm sure as sugar gonna be ready for it.
Illinois was nice. Not the whole puking ’til my throat succumed to my own stomach acid thing, or the whole driving 8 hours without cruise control thing. But the things like waking up before Brandon and Lex every morning and trailblazing new territory with Stephanie, or the feeling that you lived in some sort of Utopia for 5 short days, just without a good diet or hygiene. If you love music and have never been to Cornerstone Music Festival, you might need to re-evaluate your life goals.
I’m excited for school to start. I’m taking a photography class and writing for the school newspaper, as well as continuing to help in the communications department. I sure do miss the broadcasting scene. And making videos for that matter. If I don’t have a new video up somewhere before my next blog entry, then I need to re-evaluate my life goals.
